Wells Turns 1!

Cannot believe Wells is a year old! Cliche but it really does not seem like a year has gone by...

Anyway, we had a little get together for her big day with family and some of her little friends. She loved the giraffe cupcake cake we had. As you can see from the pictures...she wore herself out eating the cupcake. We really think she knew it was her party!

We went to her year appoinment at the doctor and she weighs 22 pounds and is 30 cm long...still 75 percentile for height and weight. Doctor told us we should stop using the bottle and start using a sippie cup for all milk(easier said than done). We are using a soft spout bottle as a transition because she wanted no part of that sippie cup with milk in it. She does not mind the whole milk..it is just what it is in that matters...who knew. I guess change is always hard!

She is still just cruising around the furniture etc..no walking yet! Fine with us. Though, she has started crawling a little faster than she used to. If she sees something she wants(esp if she knows she is not supposed to have it) she makes a bee-line for it. She is also pretty stubborn when it comes to wanting things...we will take stuff away from her(for example, a phone charger and two seconds later she will be back over at the charger grabbing for it. She's a smart little one...

Eleven/Twelve Months

Well, at almost twelve months old Wells did not really have any interest in opening presents. She would tear some of the paper and then get distracted and crawl away. Maybe next year! She also did not really care about Santa Claus. We went to see Santa with Cousin Jack...who did not really think Santa was all that cool. We think Santa was getting a little bored too...notice the yawn.

We had fun going to Jacksonville for Christmas this year...we had not been there for Christmas in three years! Wells and Cousin Bayard had fun playing together.

Ten Months

Wells seems to be crawling faster! She can now pull up on things too...she is very proud of herself. She loves to play with her friends: Jack, Brady, Lane, Hicks, Carlisle and Cousin Jack.
She now imitates us too. We will make a sound and she will copy. Another fun game is peek-a-boo and sharing. Though, after she gives you a toy she wants is right back...we try to explain to her that she is being an 'Indian giver' but she doesn't listen.

Nine Months

We are crawling. She is finally SO excited to be going somewhere. She sees things and she goes straight for them...it gets exhausting though!

Eight Months Old

Well, we are already eight months old! We are still just sitting up and rocking back and forth..maybe thinking about crawling but prob not. She gets frustrated when something or someone(Maddie) is just out of reach. She kind of scoots backward and to the side but not forward...not sure how she thinks this will help!

We still like to grab, though maybe a little harder now. She will grab your skin or hair and just pull as hard as she can. Does not understand letting go at all...! She actually will get mad now when we take toys etc away from her. I guess that old personality is starting to appear...watch out!

We took a trip out to Colorado recently for a wedding, and I must say the airplane rides are not quite as pleasant as they used to be...she just moves and wiggles a lot more. The constant grabbing at things is tough when there are people sitting next to you....!

Things we like to do:

read(or chew) books
play with cousins and friend Lane
drink from a sippie cup(with mom's help)

Six Months Old

At six months old we are a lot busier...! We can sit up, roll over, and put everything in our mouth (even our toes)...but no teeth yet.

Bath time is still fun...and so is hanging out with Dad.

Wells loves to touch and grab EVERYTHING now...Luckily, Maddie is a very laid-back dog and does not mind the constant grabbing. We actually think she likes the attention since she has been lacking in that area for quite some time now!

Summer Fun

It has been a big summer so far! The 4th of July was a lot of fun this year...Wells' first firework show...she even fell asleep half-way through the show!

Music class, friends, and new toys...a jumperoo and and an exorcaucer(sp)...thanks to Cousin Jack for letting us borrow! Wells could spend hours in these things...though we usually don't leave her in there for that long....well Tee might..but I certainly don't!

We loved Music Class...we think our teacher is a huge fan of Bob Dylan and the Beatles but that is fine. I mean toddlers and infants like rock n roll right..??
Mimi and Grammy even came to Music Class one day...that was extra fun!

Wells' friend Carlisle came over with her parents Bliss and Rocky! Carlisle was teaching Wells her new walking moves.

The Beach

We think Wells liked her first trip to the beach. She experienced the ocean, the sand, the pool, and sunscreen all in the same trip! She also spent some time with both of her cousins, Jack and Bayard. Bayard was not too sure whether he liked the pool or not...I think he preferred the ocean!

Wells loves having two boy cousins to show her the ropes...!

Wells' New Moves

Wells can now kind of sit up...(we still lean a little to one side and tip over!)..but at least we are moving in the right direction. We have turned over a few times..but not as much as we would like her to!

We are also babbling with the 'd' and the 'b' sound..sounds a little like a whiny whimper but supposedly it is called 'babbling'. We have begun our shrieking again...thought we had passed that stage..but it is back! We think she is just learning what her vocal cords can do, but boy is it loud.

She likes to grab her toes and def likes to watch Maddie all the time!

She is almost six months old...

Jackson Hole

A few weeks ago we took a trip out west for Molly's wedding. Wells tried not to lose too many friends on the plane...we think she did ok for a 3 1/2 hour flight.

It was a little chillier than Atlanta which was so wonderful. What a beautiful part of the country! The wedding was amazing with perfect views of the Tetons...

Wells was baptized recently at St. Anne's Episcopal Church here in Atlanta. Along with our whole family, we had her Godparents there Zoie and Watt. Zoie and Lane came all the way from Jax...sooo nice of them!

Wells actually liked being baptized...it was kinda like bath time which is so much fun.

Wells can now actually grab things and hold on to them...only she really hasn't learned to let go yet. So she will grab onto something and then just keep this tight grip on whatever it is until she can't take it anymore...you wish you could just tell them what to do!

3 1/2 months old

Wells is just so much fun now....(not that she wasn't before!). She just coos more and giggles more. We think she recognizes more people now. She is definitely getting bigger and bigger by the day. They say they grow the fastest right now and we believe it! She is our little string bean. Though she absolutely does not like loud noises..especially sneezes...they put her into hysterics.

This morning she was lying on her stomach trying to enjoy some 'tummy time' (which is sometimes hit or miss) and she actually rolled onto her back. Her expression was kinda like 'wow that was fun'. So I put her back onto her stomach and she did it again..oh the things that get us excited these days!

First Easter

Well, we did not make church on Easter Sunday due to the large crowds and the uncertainty of Wells' behavior at this age! We did though take a family outing to Babette's Cafe for brunch...and on to visit Uncle Dave, Aunt Amy and Cousin Jack in the afternoon.

Mimi's Birthday Lunch

On Saturday we helped Mimi (Wells' Great Grandmother) celebrate her birthday at the Vinings Inn. We had a big group! It was Aunt Pam, Aunt Shu Shu, Mary Delia, Aunt Amy, and Cousin Jack. Wells did pretty well throughout the meal...toward the end she grew a little tired along with her cousin Jack! There was just so much celebrating going on it just got exhausting...

Wells is now seven weeks old! She now smiles and coos and sleeps better at night...so we are all VERY happy!

She has been hanging out with so many friends lately...definitely more popular than her mom and dad.

Bath Time

Our bath time has become one of our favorite times at night! Dad and Maddie help out too..Wells just sits there and lets us bathe her. She even had her eyes closed one time..it was just such a tiring process!

As you can see, Wells is going to be tall like her parents...

First Walk

These are pics from Wells' first walk in the stroller! We went on a walk over at her Cousin Jack's house. Cousin Jack let Wells borrow a hat because it was a little chilly outside...(and I never know how much clothing to put on her). Babies cannot regulate their own body temp at this age..(something we have recently learned..who knew!)

Anyway, as you can see Cousin Jack's hat was a little too big for Wells...but we made it work! Wells was a little unsure at first, but then she got used to it. Though, Cousin Jack could not keep her awake for long...!

First Week

Our first week has been a busy one. We had to stay at the hospital for three days due to the c-section and then we were released! We headed home on Saturday just after the snow stopped. Surprisingly, Wells did not seem to mind the car seat. Our days consist of eating, sleeping and then eating some more. Wells is such a good baby so far! Her first bath was a little tramatic because she does not like to be exposed...but we made it through it. Along those lines, having diapers changed is becoming a little easier too! Our first check-up at the doctor went well! Doc says she looks good and has gained a little weight...so that is good!
